New publications of our resource in 2026

The initial phase of collecting data on LCF, accumulated prior to the 20th century, is largely complete. Next, we plan to analyze and synthesize thematic information, adding data from the 20th and 21st centuries. The work will focus primarily on: prevention, diagnosis, arthroscopy, plastic surgery, and endoprosthetics.

Factors Causing of LCF Pathology

Version : 20240418 Factors leading to pathology of the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF), acting directly or indirectly. FACTORS CAUSING OF LCF PATHOLOGY 1. Mechanical (damage with a blunt or sharp object, direct, indirect impact) 2. Temperature (action of high or low temperature) 3. Chemical (exposure to alkalis, acids) 4. Infectious (local process, disease of the whole body) 5. Radiation (X-rays, gamma radiation, particle streams) 6. Medicinal (exposure to medications and their breakdown products) 7. Barometric (low or high atmospheric pressure, such as decompression sickness) 8. Mental (behavioral disorders: chronic, episodic, for example, intoxication, suicide) 9. Neurological (damage to the brain, peripheral nerves) 10. Malignant tumor process (destruction by the primary tumor or metastasis) 11. Benign tumor process (destruction by tumor, compression) 12. Biological (endocrine diseases, genetic abnormalities)   Keywords: ligamentum capitis...

The Big Bang

The Big Bang The maximum age of the observable Universe, established by measuring the anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background, is 13.801±0.024 billion years. (2020AghanimN_RoudierG). The relic stages of the creation of the World are only approxim ately understood by theoretical physicists. The development of matter into molecules, as well as the start of time, is logically described by the Big Bang theory and the concept of the expansion of space (2012HawkingS). It is impossible to imagine the Universe before its expansion from some homogeneous space or an infinitesimal grain. The reason for this is the «inner cosmic oblivion» of the previous state (2007BojowaldM). In our opinion, before that there was a black, cold, motionless Peace. Accordingly, before the mark of 13.8 billion years ago, the search for evidence of ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF) is futile anywhere in the Universe. One second after the Big Bang, the Universe consisted of light and elementary particles hea...

1886AdamsF

The first mention of the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF) in a scientific text is found in the treatise «Mochlicus» ( Instruments of Reductions ), highly likely authored by Hippocrates of Kos (born 460 BCE). The classical translation of this work into English was performed by the surgeon Francis Adams. In the translation of Hippocrates’ text, LCF is called «ligament». We bring to your attention a quote and a brief commentary by the translator:   Selected quote mentioning LCF MOCHLICUS, pp. 161-163 1. With regard to the construction of bones, the bones and joints of the fingers are simple, the bones of the hand and foot are numerous, and articulated in various ways ; the uppermost are the largest ; the heel consists of one bone which is seen to project outwards, and the back tendons are attached to it. The leg consists of two bones, united together above and below, but slightly separated in the middle; the external bone (fibula), where it comes into proximity with the l...

1920FrazerJES

Fragments from the book: Frazer JES. The anatomy of the human skeleton (1920). The author describes the attachment and development of the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF), as well as its role as a vascular and nerve conductor.  The text in Russian is available at the following link: 1920FrazerJES . Fig. 104. — Outer view of the acetabular and ischio-pubic regions. A. is a region on the bone in front of the position of Quadratus femoris which is in relation with the tendon of Obturator externus and some loose fibro-fatty tissue that permits changes in place of the tendon with movement of the joint. B. is a sloping surface of bone which supports Pectineus but does not give origin to it; the surface extends out to the ilio-pectineal eminence where the fascia covering the Pectineus (pubic portion of fascia lata) reaches the bone at a. The front of the eminence is roughened by fibres belonging to the pubo-femoral group of ligaments. These are separated from the ilio-femoral set b...
