Fragment from the book Sylvius F. Opera medica (1681). The author only hints at ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF) when discussing hip dislocation. We believe Francis Sylvius is referring to Galen's IV commentary on Hippocrates' book «On Joints» (2020ArkhipovSV_ProlyginaIV).
Quote p. 41
[Lat]
XXV.
fuis excidunt, fitque Luxatio, sicur Ossi femoris nonnunquam evenit, sic Vterus Ligamentis
solutis excidit forás.
Translation
[Eng]
XXV. And not only do the different parts, serving the
same function, come into contact with each other, but they are often joined
together by means of ligaments; according to this, we will consider the
tangible qualities, and also the relaxation, rupture, or other injuries and
wounds of the different ligaments, by which the bones, especially, are
excessively distant from each other, and sometimes slip out of their sockets,
which leads to dislocation, as sometimes happens with the femur, so the uterus,
when the ligaments are weakened, falls out.
