The author found that the most common hip
injuries in athletes include acetabular labral pathology, articular damage, and
disruption of the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF). In a study by this author
of 23 cases of traumatic injury to the LCF, 17 (74%) occurred without
accompanying dislocation of the hip. According to the study, outcomes of
arthroscopy among athletes appear to be favorable and, in fact, are somewhat
better than those reported among a general population.
