Saying of Kahana extracted from the tractates Chullin (Babylonian Talmud). Babylonian Talmud was written between about 450 - 550 in present-day Iraq (formerly Babylonia). We were unable to establish the identity of the quoted religious teacher. The rabbi points out the location of the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF) and knows how to differentiate it from the sciatic nerve. See our commentary at the link: 220-320Kahana [Rus].

The Gemara asks: But isn’t it taught in a baraita that
the inner nerve, which is forbidden by Torah law, is next to the flesh? The

the bone, but it bores into the flesh as well. (original source: sefaria.org)
