Fragments from the book Bauhin C. Institutiones anatomicae (1615). The author writes about the attachment, properties and role, and probably also about the elongation of the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF). The consistency is remarkably described as «quasi cartilagineo» (almost cartilaginous). Galen of Pergamon wrote about these properties of LCF (2020ArkhipovSV_ProlyginaIV).

OSSA ET LIGAMENTA PEDIS.
At femur, coxendici ligamento duplici nectitur: altero communi membraneo,
orbiculatim articulum ambiente: altero tereti quasi cartilagineo in coxendicis
acetabulo sito, & in femoris caput medium, ne sinu suo excidat, inserto:
hoc enim laxato, laxatio fit.

BONES OF THE LOWER ABDOMEN
...
On the sides are two bones, the upper and wider parts
of which are called the ilium (ossa Ilium), and the lower and outer parts - the
ischium (ossa Coxendicis), in which is a large acetabulum, connected to the
head of the femur by a strong ligament. These bones are thin in front, pierced
by holes and connected in the region of the pubis (hence they are called pubic
bones (ossa Pubis)) by a median cartilaginous plate. These bones have different
names, because up to seven years on each side they consist of three bones
connected by cartilage.

BONES AND LIGAMENTS OF THE LEG
The femur is connected to the pelvis by two ligaments:
one common membranous, embracing the joint around; the other is rounded, almost
cartilaginous, located in the acetabulum of the pelvis and inserted into the
middle of the head of the femur so that it does not fall out of the socket.
When this ligament is weakened, a dislocation occurs.
