Fragment from the book Falloppio G. Expositio in librum Galeni De ossibus (1570). The author briefly describes the ligaments of the hip joint, but does not directly mention the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF). However, Galen of Pergamon in treatise «De Ossibus ad Tirones» (On Bones for Beginners) writes: «There is a socket of large size in each of the ischia, attached by a very stout ligament (σύνδεσμος) to the head of the femur.» (2020ArkhipovSV_ProlyginaIV).

Cap XXXI.

Of the Bones That Join the Sacrum.
Chapter XXXI.
…
Is there anything else that should be observed? Yes,
that on the third bone from the back there is a deep cavity, which is called «κοτύλη». It is cut as if
it were a deep bowl. Into this cavity the protruding head of the femur is
inserted, and is connected to it by means of certain ligaments.
