Fragments from the book Pollux J. Iuliu Polydeukus Onomasticum Graece & Latine (1706). In Greek, the author refers to ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF) as "νεῦρον" and also points out the synonym "ἰσχίον". This term was used by Rufus of Ephesus (2020ArkhipovSV_ProlyginaIV). The fragment of the Onomasticum dealing with the LCF was quoted by Giovanni Filippo Ingrassia (1603IngrassiaeIP).

καιλεῖται δὲ καὶ τὸ νεῦρον, τὸ συνέχον τὴν κοτύλην πρὸς τὸν μηρὸν, ἰσχίον. ὁμώνυμον δέ ἐστιν αὖτῷ καὶ τὸ ἄρθρον. καὶ τὸ μὲν τῇ κοτύλῃ συνηρμοσμένον στρογγύλον ὀστοῦν, μηροῦ κεφαλὴ καλεῖται.

Nervus etiam coxam femori colligans, ἰσχίον dicitur. codemque nomine, & ipse articulus nominatur. Os vero volubile coxendici conjundum, femoris caput appellatur.

Translation

[Eng]

The sinew connecting the pelvis to the thigh is called ἰσχίον. The joint is named by the same name, but the rotating bone connected to the pelvis is called the femoral head.

The author describes the anatomy of the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF) and its role.   Quote pp. 451 - 452 By arrangement with the dissector of the abdomen, who will be interested in the observation, the student should carefully trephine or chisel out a small piece from the roof of the acetabulum in order to observe what has already been stated with regard to the capsule, and also to note how the ligamentum teres is affected with regard to its tension or laxity in the various movements of the joint.
