GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The goal of the project: maintaining normal gait and quality of life, helping to study the mechanics of the hip joint, as well as in developing effective methods for treating its diseases and injuries.

Project tasks:

✔ Search, deposit, systematize, analyze, and synthesize of knowledge about the ligament of the head of femur - ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF);

✔ Popularization of research about LCF and their authors;

✔ Constructive discussion of publications about LCF;

✔ Creation of the doctrine on LCF in both normal and pathological conditions;

✔ Clarification of the biomechanics of the hip joint, taking into account LCF;

 Elucidation of the role of LCF in the pathogenesis of hip diseases;

 Support for innovators developing methods for LCF reconstruction;

✔ Contribute to the design of hip joint endoprostheses with analogs of ligaments, including LCF.

According to our concept, the project will enhance the understanding of the mechanics and physiology of the hip joint, as well as human and animal locomotions, including extinct species. This, along with improved diagnostics, will improve the prevention of hip diseases and prolong natural motor activity. Novel methods for LCF reconstruction and prosthetics entail the creation of original instruments and high-tech devices. We envision an expansion of the list of innovative products, including fixators for osteosynthesis that can be combined with LCF endoprostheses.

With sincere respect to you,

Sergey Arkhipov

Цель проекта: сохранение нормальной походки и качества жизни, помощь в изучении механики тазобедренного сустава, разработке эффективных способов лечения его болезней и травм.

Задачи проекта:

- поиск, депонирование, систематизация, анализ и синтез знаний о связке головки бедра - ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF);

- популяризация работ о LCF и их авторов;

- конструктивное обсуждение публикаций о LCF;

- создание Учения о LCF в норме и патологии;

- уточнение биомеханики тазобедренного сустава с учетом LCF;

- выяснение роли LCF в патогенезе заболеваний тазобедренного сустава;

- помощь в совершенствовании диагностики патологии LCF;

- поддержка новаторов, разрабатывающих способы реконструкция LCF;

2025ArkhipovSV. Why Acetabular Labrum Repair May Be Ineffective

  Original in Russian is available at the link:   С.В. Архипова «Почему восстановление вертлужной губы может быть неэффективно?» (06.04.2025) , below is a machine translation edited by a non-native speaker (version dated 06/04/2025). Thematic Internet Journal About round ligament of femur April 2025 WHY ACETABULAR LABRUM REPAIR MAY BE INEFFECTIVE?: A NOTE ON THE MYSTERIOUS "DARK MATTER" OF THE HIP JOINT S.V. Arkhipov, Independent Researcher, Joensuu, Finland Abstract Acetabular labrum repair and reconstruction do not prevent hip joint instability during gait and the development of osteoarthritis in the case of an elongated ligamentum capitis femoris. This conclusion is based on mathematical calculations and analysis of experiments conducted on a mechanical hip joint model. Keywords : arthroscopy, hip joint, acetabular labrum, ligamentum capitis femoris, ligamentum teres, ligament of head of femur , reconstruction, repair Introduction Nearly 80% of primary hip ar...

Classification of Functions of LCF

Version : 20240224 Introduction On the biology, the common meaning of 'function' is that of role, effect, or transformation rule (1994MorenoA_Fern´andezJ). The function of ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF) is still unknown (2009LampertC) and the ligament itself continues to bewilder and fascinate orthopaedic surgeons (2020Rosinsky_DombBG). The largest collections of opinions on the function of the LCF are contained in our works (2004 Архипов - БалтийскийСВ ; 2018,2023 АрхиповСВ ). The classification of the function of the LCF necessary to determine the directions for further study of this structure, the choice of goals and methods for its surgical recovery. The reconstruction of the LCF without restoring specific functions to solve a clearly defined clinical and biomechanical problem is nothing more than a cosmetic procedure. The proposed classification based on experimental and clinical studies of the author, as well as because of an analysis of literary sources. All the selec...
