In 1954, Leon L. Pellet proposed the first hip joint endoprosthesis with an analog of the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF) (1956PelletLL). There is an opinion that the 'Evolution of hip joint endoprostheses seems to have ended' (2023KardanovA). In our opinion, in 1954 it gave birth to an extremely promising direction. The idea proved challenging to implement in practice but gave the world a series of original artificial joints. The first review of such endoprostheses, which were described in patents, was published in 2021 and is based on materials available until 2020 (2021ArkhipovSV_SkvortsovDV).

As an analog to LCF, the author suggested using a chain made of stainless steel, a flexible element, or a multi-strand (metal) wire; the drawing from the patent (1956PelletLL; Fig.1) is rotated by us 90°. |
