Sur la face antéro-externe du grand trochanter et du col chirurgical , sur le bord supérieur du col anatomique, les rameaux de la circonflexe antérieure s'inosculent à plein canal avec les ramifications de la circonflexe postérieure. Aiusi est formé autour de l'épiphyse supérieure du fémur un cercle artériel complet constitué par les deux circonflexes et leurs branches de division ; elles embrassent dans leur concavité l'extrémité supérieure fémorale, qu'elles vascularisent assez abondamment.

Il est à remarquer que ce cercle est anastomosé : en haut, du côté de la tête fémorale, par l'intermédiaire des branches intra-osseuses avec le rameau articulaire de la branche externe de l'obturatrice, qui pénètre dans l'articulation de la hanche à travers l'échancrure ischio-pubienne et se porte, en suivant le ligament rond, jusqu'à la tête du fémur ; des branches de l'articulaire s'enfoncent en outre dans le tissu celluloadipeux rougeâtre du fond de la cavité cotyloïde ; en bas, avec le réseau du périoste diaphysaire.

Par le fait des anastomoses établies sur le bord supérieur du col fémoral entre la circonflexe postérieure et l'antérieure, il existe aussi , sur la face antérieure du col et de la tête, quelques perforantes nées de la circonflexe antérieure et qui pénètrent dans la sphère osseuse , entourée ainsi elle-même d'une série d'artérioles rayonnant vers son centre. Au niveau de la fossette d'insertion du ligament rond , on trouve quelques fines artérioles intra-osseuses, fournies par le rameau articulaire soit de l'obturatrice, soit de la circonflexe interne . Il existe donc autour de la tête fémorale, à l'union du cartilage et de l'os , un véritable cercle artériel constitué par des artères osseuses issues des circonflexes. Du cercle artériel naissent des branches radiées qui vascularisent l'os spongieux chez l'adulte, le cartilage de la tête fémorale, en voie d'ossification , chez le fœtus ou l'enfant.
