1923PreussJ

Fragment from the book Preuss J. Biblisch-talmudische Medizin (1923). The author translates the biblical term "גיד" into scientific language as ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF) and notes the possibility of its damage in an animal. More details about the mention of LCF in the book of Bereshit (Genesis) in our publications: 2020ArkhipovSV_ProlyginaIV, 445bсEzra. See also: 2004PreussJ, and our commentary at the link: 1923PreussJ [Rus].

[Deu]

Zweites Kapitel.

Quote. p. 70.

Chapter 2. Parts of the Body and Their Functions (Anatomy and Physiology). IX.

«The sinew of the thigh», is lig. teres (Latin: round/rounded ligament), which in the Talmud is called «nib». Dislocation of the head of the femur with rupture of this ligament was considered life-threatening for the animal (11).

The aim of this study was to use finite element analysis to assess LT stress during hip movements, which included external rotation with flexion. A 3D model of the hip joint, including the femoral hea...
