About 200 years ago W. Weber and
E. Weber (1836) experimented with anatomical preparations: https://roundligament.blogspot.com/2024/03/1836-weberwwebere.html.
As a result, the brothers suggested that when leans on one leg, the body is
supported by the iliofemoral ligament (IFL) and ligamentum capitis femoris
(LCF). Our experiments on a mechanical model confirm this point of view:
Ideally, a hip replacement should contain an analogue of the ligamentum
capitis femoris and an analogue of the iliofemoral ligament.
