Fragments
from the book Bertin EJ. Traité d'Osteologie. Т. 1. (1754). The author discusses the anatomy
and role of the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF), and also mentions the debate
about the correct name that ensued between Nicolas Andry de Bois-Regard and
Jean-Louis Petit (1725AndryN).
Quote pp. 156-157
[Fra]
Il y a
encore de certains ligamens qui sont cachés dans les articulations & que
l'on n'apperçoit que quand on a coupé la capsule par une section circulaire;
tel est, par exemple, le ligament qui attache la tête du fémur dans le sond de
la cavité cotyloïde, & qui est improprement appellé ligament rond.
Translation
[Eng]
There are still certain ligaments which
are hidden in the joints and which we only see when we cut the capsule by a
circular section; such is, for example, the ligament which attaches the head of
the femur to the probe of the acetabular cavity, and which is incorrectly
called the round ligament.
