Quote p. 269.
The superior appendage,
together with the accessory process, forms the large, spherical head of the femur,
supported by a strong neck, which is placed in a cavity formed by the ischium,
ilium, and pubis (also called the acetabulum or cup). It is held in this cavity
by strong ligaments: one broad and membranous, which surrounds the entire
joint, and the other round and rounded, it starts from the cavity itself,
immediately entering the head of the femur.
