Classification of Neoplasms of the LCF

Version: 20240228

Reports on neoplasms of the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF) are scarce. Among them, we can distinguish malignant and benign neoplasms. We categorized xanthomas and synovial cysts as distinct types of pathological alterations in tissues closely tumors. Primary of the LCF tumors are possible from various types of connective tissue and theoretically from nervous tissue. Neoplasms of the ligament can also be the result of metastasis and infiltration.

Classification of Neoplasms of the LCF (Vers. 2.1.0)

1. Primary malignant tumors
    Malignant chondroma
2. Primary benign tumors
    Tenosynovial giant cell tumor
    Pigmented villonodular synovitis
    Synovial chondromatosis

    Synovial osteochondroma
    Fibromyxoid pseudotumor
3. Metastasis and infiltration
4. Synovial cysts
5. Xanthoma

According to the author, the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF) is a tendon of the pectineus muscle, separated from it in consequence of skeletal modifications.   THE LIGAMENTUM TERES By J. B. SUTTON, Demonstrator of Anatomy, Middlesex Hospital. (PLATE VIII.) The round ligament of the coxo-femoral articulation has long been an anatomical puzzle, consequently many diverse notions exist concerning it. Some anatomists ascribe to this hollow band of fibrous tissue very important functions in the mechanism of the hip-joint; others deprive it of all glory, simply assigning to it the menial duty of conveying blood-vessels to the head of the femur. Certain authors content themselves with a brief description of its attachments; others give elaborate and detailed accounts, extending over several pages, of its anatomy and supposed function. My object in the present communication is to show that this singular ligament is nothing more than the tendon of the pectineus muscle, sepa...

Catalog. Classifications of LCF Pathology

The classifications are intended to systematize of ligamentum capitis femoris pathology and assist in the development of general approaches to its description, registration, analysis and treatment.   Keywords ligamentum capitis femoris, ligamentum teres, ligament of head of femur, hip joint, histology, pathological anatomy, pathology, trauma INTRODUCTION In Russia, the initial attempts to classify pathology of the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF) were made by morphologists. The development of arthroscopic surgery has made it possible to identify various, previously undescribed types of LCF pathology, which prompted the development of various modern classifications based on intraoperative observations. Analysis of literature data and our own morphological observations allowed us to propose a General Classification of the Ligamentum Teres Pathology, which has the form of a collection of classifiers, as well as a Classification of Functions of the Ligamentum Teres. The ...

Fragment from the treatise Galen. On anatomical procedures (Περὶ Ἀνατομικῶν Ἐγχειρήσεων, ca. 163-192). The author writes about the high resiliency and hardness of ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF), and also notes its connective function. 1874SavoryWS

In the article, the author raises the question of the function of the ligamentum capitis femoris (LCF). The researcher develops the views of Professor William Turner outlined in «Human Anatomy and Physiology» ( 1857TurnerW ). An important point of the work presented below is the view that LCF «...is especially called into action whenever the weight of the body is thrown upon one leg».   ON THE USE OF THE LIGAMENTUM TERES OF THE HIP-JOINT What is the function of the Ligamentum Teres? Many authors who describe this structure are silent on the question, while of those who answer it the general conclusion is that it has, for its chief function, to limit adduction of the thigh, or when the thigh is fixed, to limit lateral movement of the pelvis on the femur — to prevent the pelvis from rolling toward the opposite side; Authors, of course, are not fully agreed in explanation of its use, and other less prominent functions are by many assigned to it, such as to limit rotation ...
