The study
authors found that there is a higher frequency of ligamentum capitis femoris
(LCF) tears among dancers (55%) compared to athletes (22%). Moreover, the
severity of LCF tears was higher in dancers. The higher frequency of
non-traumatic LCF tears in professional ballet artists suggests that the LCF
may be abnormally loaded in ballet.
